Roofing FAQ: Storm Damage, Insurance & Roof Replacement

Do you offer free roof inspections?

Yes. Every roof inspection from Legacy Roofing is free and no-obligation. We check for hail and wind damage, leaks, missing or damaged shingles, flashing problems, and general wear, and we show you photos of everything we find.

How do I know if I have enough storm damage to file an insurance claim?

The only way to know for sure is a professional roof inspection. Hail and wind damage often can't be seen from the ground. We inspect your roof for free, photograph any damage, and give you an honest opinion on whether it's worth filing a claim.

Do you meet with insurance adjusters?

Yes. We can meet your insurance adjuster at your home to make sure all storm-related damage is properly documented, and we help you understand the roofing portion of your claim from inspection to final installation.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roof replacements are completed in one day, depending on the size of the home, the roof's pitch, and the weather. We clean up the job site and do a final walkthrough with you when the work is done.

Should I repair or replace my roof?

Minor issues like a small leak, a few missing shingles, or loose flashing can usually be repaired. Widespread storm damage, aging shingles (15 to 25+ years old), or soft decking usually call for a full replacement. If a repair will do the job, we'll tell you.

What areas do you serve?

Legacy Roofing is based in Murray, KY and serves homeowners and businesses across Western Kentucky and Northern Tennessee, including Murray, Mayfield, Paducah, Benton, Calvert City, Grand Rivers, Cadiz, Hopkinsville, Eddyville, Smithland, and Wickliffe, KY, plus Paris and Martin, TN. Not sure if we cover your town? Call or text 270-227-0057.

Will filing a roof insurance claim raise my rates?

It depends on your insurance company and your policy. Claims from widespread storm events like hail or high winds are often treated differently than isolated claims. Your insurance agent can tell you how your policy handles it.

What if there isn't enough damage to replace my roof?

Then we'll tell you. Sometimes a repair or simply keeping an eye on the roof is the smarter choice. You'll get an honest assessment with no pressure and no gimmicks.

What roofing materials do you install?

We install architectural asphalt shingles, impact-resistant Class 4 shingles, and metal and standing seam roofing, along with synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield, and ridge vents, all installed to manufacturer specifications.

Do you offer a warranty on roof replacements?

Yes. Every full roof replacement we install is backed by a 5-year craftsmanship warranty, plus the shingle manufacturer's warranty on materials.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Legacy Roofing, LLC is a licensed and insured local roofing contractor based in Murray, Kentucky. We're not a storm chaser, and we'll be here long after the job is done.

Do you offer emergency roof tarping?

Yes. If a storm, fallen tree, or sudden leak leaves your roof open, call or text 270-227-0057. We'll tarp the damaged area quickly to stop further water damage until permanent repairs can be made.
